British drama starring Robert Morley as dramatist W.S. Gilbert and Maurice Evans as composer Arthur Sullivan. Together the pair form a duo and begin writing comic operas. Meanwhile, Sullivans efforts to marry Grace Marston (Dinah Sheridan) are not met with the approval he anticipated. As their popularity grows Sullivan is conflicted by their success as he is eager to be viewed as a serious composer and tensions also brew between the pair as they vie for their own personal artistic credibility.
