Nancy Carroll, Frank Morgan and Paul Lukas star in this 1930s US drama based on the play by Ladislas Fodor. In Vienna, Walter Bernsdorf (Lukas) stands accused of murdering his wife Lucy (Gloria Stuart). His friend, lawyer Paul Held (Morgan), agrees to take on his case. However, as Paul works to secure his friends acquittal, he begins to suspect his own wife, Maria (Carroll), of infidelity.
