The Colourfield - Sound Of The Colourfield
THE COLOUR FIELD were founded in the summer of 1983 by Terry Hall, the former singer of The Specials and Fun Boy Three, together with the ex-organist of The Swinging Cats, Toby Lyons, and bassist Karl Shale.
The band released only two albums ("Virgins and Philistines," 1985, and "Deception," 1987) and seven singles in three years.
These ranged from their self-titled debut album "The Colour Field" in January 1984 to a cover version of The Monkees' "She" in 1987, whose single "Thinking of You" became a hit in the UK.
This 96-track box set contains 42 previously unreleased tracks and combines two albums with their B-sides and remixes, newly remastered from the original tapes.
Two CDs of unreleased demos, outtakes, and live concerts are also included.
Additionally, there is a DVD with all promotional videos and BBC television appearances.
The whole thing is packaged in a mediabook in DVD format and includes a newly conducted interview by John Earls (Classic Pop / record collector) with Toby Lyons and Karl Shale, as well as archive interviews with Terry Hall, along with previously unpublished photos and memorabilia.
