Stan Getz & The Oscar Peterson Trio - Stan Getz & The Oscar Peterson Trio (Verve Vault Series)
"Stan Getz and the Oscar Peterson Trio," released in 1958 on Verve Records, documents the rare encounter of two contrasting yet complementary jazz greats: the relaxed tenor saxophonist Stan Getz and the brilliantly swinging, drumless trio of Oscar Peterson.
While the Oscar Peterson Trio was accustomed to playing with a variety of guest soloists during their "Jazz at the Philharmonic" performances, this was an unusual situation for the tenor saxophonist.
He mastered it brilliantly, however.
A highlight of the album is a ten-minute ballad medley featuring no fewer than five well-known jazz standards.
Verve Vault Series: cut and mastered by Ryan K.
Smith from the original analog tapes at Sterling Sound and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Optimal.
Single sleeve with iconic original artwork.
