McCoy Tyner - Asante (Blue Note 1970) (Tone Poet Series)
McCoy Tyner had been increasingly looking to Africa for inspiration on his Blue Note records of the late-60s.
With 1970’s Asante, he brought those influences to the fore with the swirling percussive rhythmic bed of Billy Hart and Mtume along with Buster Williams, Ted Dunbar, Andrew White, and the vocals of Songai.
