Doublespeak - Doublespeak
Doublespeak, the new project from Vince Clarke, Neil Arthur of Blancmange and Benge, releases his self-titled debut album. The release is a collection of cover versions, which the trio has rearranged into an album with eleven tracks.
Bands covered include Fad Gadget, Young Marble Giants, ABBA, The Sound, The Carpenters, David Essex, The Magnetic Fields, Thomas Leer and Robert Rental, John Hartford, Ed Dowie, and Laptop.
The creation of the album took seven years. Blancmange confirms: "Seven years – but in reality much longer, all the way back to the radio stations of the 70s, the indie labels of the 80s and the analog synthesizer revolution of the 21st century."
