Asymmetric Universe - A Memory & What Came After

Founded by multi-instrumentalists Nicolò and Federico Vese, Italian progressive metal duo Asymmetric Universe has carved out a distinct space in the modern instrumental scene with a sound that seamlessly blends the aggressive intensity of metal with the rich harmonies and improvisational spirit of jazz fusion. Having emerged from a shared passion for composition and sonic exploration during their intense period of musical study nearly 10 years ago, the band now are set to release their debut album, A Memory And What Came After, on InsideOutMusic.

The band’s upcoming full-length album, which they started work on in late 2023, reflects a refined vision and deeper maturity, as well as a more cohesive and expressive sound. Guest appearances also elevate the record, including solos by Richard Henshall (Haken) and Jared Yee (Sungazer). “The fact that Richard Henshall accepted to do a solo for us was a huge honour! We’ve been fans of Haken since their first album. The way he composed his guest solo was incredible.” Nicolò says. “Jared… surprised us with a melodic sax solo that fits perfectly with the part, giving importance to spaces.”

With an ambitious new record, a growing international presence, and an uncompromising creative vision, Asymmetric Universe continue to push the boundaries of what instrumental progressive music can be — fiercely technical, emotionally resonant, and wholly their own.
