Anna Lapwood - Arise,Shine
New choral album from the globally successful organist Anna Lapwood
The new album "Arise, Shine" by Anna Lapwood shows another side of the world-renowned organist - namely her love of choirs. With the Chapel Choir of Pembroke College in Cambridge, a renowned girls' choir, she has recorded a personal, predominantly sacred choral program at the end of her tenure, which contrasts works by Maurice Duruflé and Ola Gjeilo as well as compositions by Olivier Messiaen and Lucy Walker, who used to sing in this choir herself, in the most exciting way. A special encore is "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" from the classic film "The Wizard of Oz". Anna Lapwood also composed two works herself. With this typical range of classical and contemporary titles, as well as a portion of film music, Anna Lapwood remains impressively true to herself. Anna Lapwood explains: "I wanted to put together an album that reflects a little of what makes the Pembroke Choir so unique, combining traditional repertoire with modern reinterpretations and showcasing music by young composers from the Pembroke Choir and beyond. It's very special to record a piece by Maryam Giraud, who was one of my first choristers when I started the girls' choir and who is now a student at the college."
